 Around the St. Markus Church was the burial ground which was used up until about 1800. Now there is a new cemetery on the east side of Brensbach..

 St. Markus Kirche - The Kuppa has 8 tips, with lion, dog and human head with a garland. Crucifix above is from the 16/17th century. There is also a stone hessian "coat of arms" with year 1526 (year of the Reformation), and the initials VDMIAE (that is Verbum Domini Manet In Aeternum - The 12 apostles from abt 1710).

 We took a walk through town and found a house where a Willie Göttmann lived. I will have to write to him and find out how he fits into the family.

 I was surprised to find Grunewald's in the cemetery.....my great-grandmother was a Grunewald who left Germany in 1767 and moved to Frank, Russia. The Grunewalds have been traced to the town of Gross-Felda, Germany which is north of Frankfurt.

 On the palace grounds next to the church. Just after the 30 years war the last Rodenstein died out. The ownership of the town was taken over by the family Von Gemmingen. The palace (not really very spectacular, just a big ol’ house, now belongs to them.

 This monument was originally put up to honor the soldiers from Fränkisch-Crumbach that died in WWI but I think the names from WWII have been added in the meantime.

 Heimatmuseum Rodenstein in Fränkisch-Craumbach. This building is part of the historic group inside the town which contain the "Aristocratic House" (house of Betters) and the Evangelical Church. This museum houses a collection of some 2000 historical photos and objects from around the area.
