BRIDGES IN BRUNNENTAL: (The map and descriptions of the bridges was first printed in the Fall 1993 Issue of the Frank / Brunnental Village Newsletter) To order the old newsletters, contact: Sherrie Stahl, 4189 NW Spoon Pl, Portland, OR 97229, USA / Email: sherriestahl@comcast.net / Updated 3/2006 --------------------- Refer to the Map of the Bridges for the location of each number. #1)This bridge went over the Uberhauf Kanal (spillover canal) that fed the large area of water. Mrs. Becker says this bridge went to the village of "Hussenbach" which was about 15km (Russian name: "Gashon"). #2)Mrs. Becker says this bridge was called Damma ---it was made of rock and dirt like a funnel---not wood like the other bridges. #3)Franza Bruecke - Mrs. Becker says this bridge was named after Alta Franz Wuertemberger who lived close by and was made of wood. #4)Weber Bruecke - Mrs. Becker says this bridge was named after the Weber family that lived close by and was made of wood. #5)Aschenbrenner Bruecke - Mrs. Becker says this bridge was named after the Aschenbrenner family that lived close by and it was made of wood. It went to the village of "Woskrenski" [sp?] which was north of Brunnental. #6)This bridge was made of dirt and rock, not of wood. #7)This bridge was called Staudamm mit schleuse. #8)Heina Bruecke - or Frankera Bruecke -- Mrs. Becker says this was named after the Hein family who lived near it. Mr. Hein died about 1884, but people still called it "Heina Bruecke" up until she left in 1912. It was also referred to as the "Frankera Bruecke" because most of the people from Frank lived in this part of Brunnental. This bridge led to the village of "Streckerau" and to the orchards and vegetable gardens. Also the town of "Seelmann" was 35km. ======== end
